week #10

What will I do with my MP3 player?
Lots of things. I plan on downloading audio books about language learning so I can learn languages. And of course have my favorite music with me at all times. I will also use it to study, recording my own reviews in podcasts (now that I know how to), and listen to myself while I do something else! This learning course is very nice I've learned so many things...

Week #9

About this copyright debate what can I say? I think the law is the law. It is usually to protect, so I think we all need our hard work to be protected and to be worth our effort. These people had to go through a lot to create these songs and music, most of them is their career. Every career has a salary so I think everybody that uses that persons career's should pay for it's use unless they authorize you can use it for free. Even though the way technology has evolved has allowed millions today to break these copyright laws and almost nobody really pays attention to who breaks the law. Even here at our libraries, I know for sure more than 90% of the patrons that check out CDs, are making copies of them; and nobody will do anything. So I'll let the lawmakers and the people who don't like their laws to decide what to do. Meanwhile I'll just stick to the current laws.

Week 8

I definitely agree with online learning, I think that at some point everything can be learned this way. I like it because it's more accesible, you can learn from the comfort of your home, at your pace whenever you want. If you are shy you don't have the pressure to deal with new students in a classroom and participate in a class in front of others. I did help others, we are divided by teams but I've also helped a bunch of times others that are not in my team. I have learned so many new things in this weeks, and since I'm working as a team that has also help in knowing better my coworkers. So it's fun and as Tom said: "everyone benefits".

My favorite Library Technology

Well, in the OCLS website my favorite section is the Virtual Libary because we can learn any language we want through our website and Rossetta Stone. I also like the Library Databases beacuse there is even one about Car parts and repairs.

About the 2.0 technologies for this week I kinda liked Wikimapia but, it doesn't have all the countries and when I decided to check out Egypt everything was in arabic, so I didn't even know what I was looking at. Anyway on Learn 2.0 Map of the World we found OCLS, it was interesting to see that we are not the only library learning 2.0

This week's course...

I could't believe that OCLS had videos at YouTube. They are cool. I think more teens should see them so they can see how some of the teen programs, involving gaming@ocls, really are. Today I didn't share the program with anyone but I still had fun. And I absolutely loved the 2.0 video. So many people take the Internet for granted and the Internet is not all for bad purposes. We are the ones who decide what is published there and there is so much useful information accesible to us.... We should be grateful the Internet is available to anyone in these days, because it wasn't before. (It was used only for goverment communication purposes during the Cold War). But as for everything, we should also be careful in how we use it.

I absolutely liked Grokker!! I love how the links are organized so you can focus on what is more important to you, instead of having to read through a million links. But, you also have the option of having the links on your right hand side. COOL!

For my RSS feed reader I chose Teen Tech Live, Southwest Branch's Blog and the Library Leader, all from OCLS.info. Some of the other ones I chose was Techdirt, CNN news, iTunes, MTV News and Quotes of the Day.
